I took this soon after I moved to Bishop, California after quitting my job as an engineer and deciding to concentrate on photography.  The snow had just started that morning and as I was wandering around looking at my new town I remembered seeing this fantastic cottonwood tree in a field the day before.   When I went back that morning some horses were out also enjoying the snow.

'Amish Buggy' (Coming Home from School)

Story:  I've lived with the Amish as my neighbors for over 10 years and it's fascinating to see our modern world and views as filtered through their very different perspective.  The farm shown here is my family's.  The buggy was coming past after picking up a little Amish boy, Efram, from his one-room schoolhouse just up the road after an unexpected March snowstorm.  I was out in the field photographing and was just in the right place at the right time.  My neighbors are all Old Order Amish and have asked that their faces not be photographed, and I've respected that.
